When I first started designing our new build home, I realized that Will and I had really similar tastes. We both love a monochromatic color palette, clean lines, and tall floor-to-ceiling windows that let in tons of natural light. But one thing we did not see eye-to-eye on is having white couches.
Will is a very practical guy who cares more about comfort, functionality and durability than the overall aesthetics. “How are we going to live with white couches in the great room? Are we going to keep them covered until we have guests?”
He didn’t think it was possible to find white couches that were “livable”. I understood the assignment and gladly welcomed the challenge.
One night, as I was lying in bed, I saw an ad on Facebook of a guy pouring soda on a white couch. My anxiety level was peaking as he confidently wiped away the stains with a paper towel. No stains. No residue. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Was this video edited? I re-watched it a few times for good measure.
The company is called 7th Avenue. Born in Los Angeles, they’re an industry fresh face that has truly been taken the internet by storm. Their website claims they offer their customers with endless modular possibilities, fabric that is both water-repellent and stain resistant fabric, and removable and washable covers. After reading hundreds of reviews from verified buyers, I knew I had to stop by the West Hollywood showroom to check it out in person.
The moment I sat on the 7th Avenue couch displayed at the brand’s showroom in West Hollywood, I was hooked. Not only was this the most comfortable couch I have ever sat on, I could not believe how the high performance fabric holds up against liquids and dirt. Most things come off with paper towel and hot water. For the tricker stains that require a thorough wash, all cushion covers and base of couch covers are removable and washable.
I glanced at Will, who looked like he was in disbelief. He couldn’t believe the day has finally come when I found a pure white couch that is comfortable, high quality, functional and most importantly – livable.
We ended up getting two 3-seat modular sofas for our great room on the first floor. We decided on the color Pure White, their #1 bestseller. It is a beautiful warm white with a contemporary look, which matches our Cosmic White tiles quit perfectly. 7th Avenue offered white glove delivery and the workers helped us unbox and piece together the modulars in less than an hour.
After having the couch for over a few months, the couches still look brand new. Below are the reasons why I think 7th Avenue couches are designed smarter and made better than others:
- Flexibility In Design – All the modulars can be detached individually! You can be arrange them in various shapes to fit the size of your space! This is absolutely genius because in the past, I’ve had to buy a couch for each space. I want the freedom to be able to take the couch with me in case we want to use it in a new space.
- Water Repellent and Stain Resistant High Performance Fabric – This was a no-brainer for us. From soda to cat pee (yes, Chester did it once), everything has been able to come off with paper towel and hot water mixed with some dish liquid. There is no water stains. Everything looks so brand new.
- Removable and Washable Covers – I can truly sleep better at night knowing that if there is ever a stain that require additional cleaning, I can remove all the covers – cushion and base – and pop them in the washer and dryer. Not to mention if I ever wanted a different color couch, I can just get covers of a different shade.
- Sustainably-Built & Non-Toxic – This one is a big one for me as I only shop brands that have ethical business practices and have adopted sustainability as part of their DNA. 7th Avenue sofas are built to be sustainable and meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact.
