For Will’s birthday, I wanted to surprise him with an experience that allows us to practice social distancing and see the wonders of Joshua Tree, CA. I booked an Airstream rental on Airbnb!
Recreational vehicles were gaining in popularity prior to the pandemic. Now, with travel restrictions loosening, a surge of travelers is drawn to the relative solitude that RV-life offers.
Located on one-and-a-half-acres of land with stunning desert and mountain views, the airstream was a perfect getaway for a quiet birthday weekend where we were able to disconnect from the hustle bustle of city life.
While tourists come to the park year-round, I highly recommend going from October – April to avoid the dry desert heat! When we arrived, it was in the high 90s during the daytime and cooled down to the high 70s at night.
The inside of the airstream is decorated with a cute shag rug and 70s decor! Joshua Tree’s sunsets are pure magic! Those iconic bulbous boulders, bubblegum skies and namesake trees make the perfect backdrop to a California desert playground.
As the air falls crips and the sun goes down behind the hills in Joshua Tree, it’s time for one of my favorite activities – stargazing! Joshua Tree is one of the best places for stargazing in the country because the Park is located in the High Desert (5000 ft above sea level) and it is located far from major cities (which create light pollution).
