EXCLUSIVE! J. Cole Delays “Born Sinner” Again

One of the things we’re especially looking forward to getting our hands on in the new year is J. Cole’s sophomore album – “Born Sinner”. The album was scheduled to release on Jan. 28, just a few weeks from now. Unfortunately for all the J. Cole fans, when I caught up with the 27-year-old MC at LAVO’s New Year’s Eve celebration, he dropped some devastating news.

“It’s not gonna be January 28th,” J. Cole dished to me exclusively on the red carpet. “It’s gonna be a little later than that, I needed more time for the tracks.”

J. Cole’s highly anticipated second studio album is a follow-up to his 2011 debut “Cole World: The Sideline Story”.

On what he thinks will surprise fans the most about the new album, J. Cole has mixed feeling. “I don’t even know what they’re gonna feel. Hopefully, they’ll love it but I don’t know if it’s going to be the production, the stories, I can’t tell. Hopefully, they love everything about it.”

The German-born rapper is also busy working on a short film to coincide with the album, and a collaborative album with Kendrick Lamar. Considering his grammy-nominated debut album “Cole World” was No. 1 upon its release a year ago, Cole has seriously upped the ante!

The “Work Out” rapper may be the first artist to get signed with Roc Nation but he still recalls the day when he stood outside of Jay-Z’s building with a mixtape, only to be rejected by Hov.

When I asked him what advice he’d give to his old self, he laughed and replied: “I would just watch him, watch him fail because he needed that. He needed to go through that to push to the next level. I would just watch him not do what he came to do and watch the type of impact he had. I wouldn’t change anything about it. That moment is classic.”
